However, my first trip to Iceland was filled with excitement and a touch of apprehension. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, and the thought of planning my adventure left me feeling a bit nervous. All I knew was that I would be circling most of the island. Join me as I share the tips and tricks I learned during my unforgettable journey through Iceland.
Dress in Layers:
Iceland’s weather can be unpredictable, so layering is key. I went to Iceland in the summer and I am glad I had both my raincoat and various layers to keep me warm. Don’t forget about some sturdy hiking boots. For information about packing for Iceland check out my Iceland packing article.
Rent a Car
If you plan to travel outside of Reykjavik I recommend renting a car. I haven’t plans of going off roading so I rented a normal car, but if you are planning to explore some off the beaten path location, you should rent a 4×4 Vehicle. It is required. Driving in Iceland was incredibly easy. The main roads were well paved and largely two lanes.
